Green insurance policy for UK homes
MORE TH>N is greening their home insurance policy to help customers reduce their environmental impacts. Developed in partnership with WWF, the policy builds on efforts by RSA to push environmental considerations into the claims handling process and incentivise green minded customers. Features include:
- Customers can upgrade to more flood resistant and energy efficient building materials for an additional cost in the event of a claim;
- MORE TH>N will increasingly repair damaged belongings rather than replace them with new equivalents;
- Discounts on environmental friendly products are available through MORE TH>N’s MORE4ME website, along with information on how to cut water and energy use
The policy supports wider initiatives by RSA who have set a target to cut the average carbon footprint of UK home insurance policies by 15% by the end of 2013 (against a 2010 baseline).
It will be available to MORE TH>N customers across the UK from the end of March to coincide with Earth Hour and joins a similar scheme introduced by RSA Canada in 2010.
MORE TH>N is the UK’s official Earth Hour partner and will be urging its customers, business partners, employees and the public to get involved, turn their lights off and take a stand against climate change.
