Dine by candlelight for WWF’s Earth Hour
MORE TH>N is calling on customers and employees to sign up to Earth Hour for the second year running.
On Saturday 31st March, millions of people from around the world will be switching off their lights for one hour at 8.30pm (local time). But it’s not to save an hour’s electricity. It’s about something much bigger, WWF’s Earth Hour is about people coming together to put the focus on this brilliant world we all share – and how we need to protect it. Not just for an hour a year, but every day.
This year, WWF is encouraging people to come together and mark the hour with a candlelit dinner for friends and family. Celebrity chefs including Rick Stein and Valentine Warner are backing the campaign and their delicious Earth Hour menus are there to inspire you.
The countdown to Earth Hour 2012 began in January when singer KT Tunstall switched off the Christmas lights at Westfield shopping centre in London. KT said: “It's such a simple, powerful campaign and it's a great feeling to be joining many millions of others around the world who care and are taking action. I really hope people feel inspired to sign up and switch off their lights on 31st March.”
MORE TH>N’s role as the UK’s official Earth Hour sponsor is part of RSA’s continuing commitment to reduce its environmental impacts and encourage others to do the same. Its three-year partnership with WWF aims to increase awareness of the link between environmental and insurance risk, and the impact of climate change on its business.
First launched in 2007, over 13 million people in 135 countries supported Earth Hour 2011. To sign up and take part or for more information visit the Earth Hour website.
