Conference provides glimpse into European energy future
More than 80 RSA staff, customers and brokers from around the world visited Europe’s largest solar thermal plant as part of RSA’s Renewable Energy Conference in Seville. Every year, the conference brings together a diverse group of renewable energy professionals to debate key developments in the renewable energy industry.
The Solucar solar power plant, operated by Abengoa, supplies 94,000 households with clean electricity, eliminating 114,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year. The visit gave conference attendees a unique insight into Europe’s renewable energy future and was supported by thought-provoking presentations by leading renewable energy experts such as Jean-Philippe Denruyter, Manager of Global Renewable Energy Policy at WWF, who talked about WWF´s vision for 100% renewable energy by 2050. Alberto Ceña, Technical Director of the Spanish Wind Energy Association, provided an overview of Spain’s rise in the wind energy sector and his thoughts on the future of both Spain and Europe´s wind sector.
RSA is a leading renewable energy insurer with a significant share of the global market in wind, bio-energy, solar and small hydro insurance. RSA opened its Spanish offices in 2009 and is involved in over 70% of wind energy projects in the country. Abengoa is one of RSA’s largest customers in Spain as well as a key player in the development of renewable energy technologies worldwide.
